A submersible pump is a device which has a hermetically sealed motor shut-coupled to the pump overall body. The whole assembly is submerged in the fluid to be pumped. The primary gain of this style of pump is that it stops pump cavitation, a difficulty involved with a significant elevation difference involving the pump and the fluid surface area.
